Background
In 2021, Rhenus, a major player in logistics (39,000 employees), wanted to reduce its energy consumption and improve the carbon impact of its warehouses located in Gretz-Armainvilliers, 40 km from Paris.
At the time, the German group’s tertiary site was equipped with old, costly and faulty gas-fired boilers.
Tailor-made solutions from Accenta
The feasibility study carried out within the buildings demonstrated the relevance of installing an automated building management system (BMS).
Operations were carried out without any interruption to activity:
✅ Requirements planning
→ Choice of temperature setpoints and occupancy times for each functional zone
✅ Installation and works
→ Replacement of gas boilers and unit heaters
→ Creation of a class B BMS with the installation of 19 radio sensors and 12 wired sensors
✅ Launch of the solution
→ Integration of the program on the building
→ Graphic and functional settings
→ Customer training in the use of the tools, tailored to the customer’s profile and needs
Customer benefits
A smart BMS that adapts boiler operating times to the building’s needs leads to significant savings:
✅ – 421.3 MWh consumed, i.e. energy bills reduced by -46% compared with the reference situation
✅ – 86.4 tonnes of CO2, i.e. 46% less carbon released into the atmosphere
Thanks to its new automated system, Rhenus also ensures compliance with the BACS and tertiary sector decrees, while taking advantage of the intelligent functions of the BMS, as site manager Cédric Paillard attests.
“Predictive alerts and performance can be accessed from the application, which is a real plus that enables us to anticipate and avoid malfunctions! Feedback is fast and reliable.”
The installation of a BMS will be mandatory from 2025 onwards in all commercial buildings with a boiler rated over 290 kW, so let’s get in touch!
